Mr. James Punches 10/26/2002

Sorry for two year delay, but your message did not immediately register in my mind! My info is sketchy, but may help you. Better yet, you may be able to help me.

The self published book, "Descendents of Andreas Foller," by Fay William Feller(FWF), 1990, lists the marriage of Levi Fellers to Catherine Duvall on 8 Feb 1847. A parenthetical note follows, "(Levi son Peter, Liberty Twp., born 1823)." on page 123. This is taken from Hancock County, OH, records.

The 1840 census for Liberty Twp, Hancock County, lists a family with Peter Feller as head of household. You are probably aware that these early censuses give little more. I cannot identify this family in Hancock County in either the 1830 or 1850 censuses. Don't confuse the Peter Fellers in Eagle Twp, this is a different family which is much better known.

FWFp146 shows a land transfer from Peter Fellers & Hannah, his wife, to Joseph Feller--dated 6 Aug 1836 in Hancock County, OH.

The 1830 census for Bloom Twp, Fairfield County, OH, shows a Peter Feller as head of household with a family profile approximating the 1840 Hancock County record. Thus, it is conceivable that the family of interest moved from Fairfield County to Hancock County between 1830-36.

Next, there are some baptism records for Betzer Church, Bloom Twp, Fairfield County, OH. Recognize that many people were illiterate in those days. These records, as I understand them, were the diaries of ministers, who recorded, phonetically in German in difficult handwriting, the records of baptisms. These have been translated by some ambitious souls.

Churchbooks of the Betzer Union/Zion Reformed Church, 1817-
1881, Fairfield County Chapter of OGS, 1994.

In any case, three children of Peter & Hanna Feller appear:
Elizabeth, born ~1820
Laeti, born 29 Nov 1823
Rebeka, born 15 Jul 1829

I think it is a fair bet that Laeti is your Levi, distorted by time, handwriting, and translation.

I have done a lot of work on the Feller(s) of Fairfield & Hancock County and hope you will help me add to it. I prefer to use US Mail.
