Leah, I noticed a reference to Jacob Feltman in a book about Tuscaloosa County when I was searching for information about Ben Gray who lived in Tuscaloosa County in 1860. Ben Gray lost his life in the War Between the States, leaving a young widow, Sarah, and a baby son, William Z. Gray. Family tradition has it that Sarah married the second time a Tom Feltman. We have been unable to find a Tom Feltman anywhere. However, we found a family on the 1870 census of Walker County, Alabama, with John Feltman, head, 29 years old; Sarah, wife, 26 years old, William, son, 11 years old, Mary, daughter, 3 years old, and John, son, 6 months old. The ages of Sarah and William are correct for the Sarah and William Gray on the 1860 census. However, William, is not identified as a step-son but was included under the Feltman name. But we believe this is our Sarah and William. I have no idea if this John Feltman is a descendant of your Jacob Benjamin Feltman. I can't remember the title of the book we were reading, but there was at least a page of information about Jacob Feltman. He seemed to have been a prominent person in that area.
