Name Change to FELTMAN? -1844 immigrants HAN OVER to Richmond IN
Posted by: William Garner (ID *****1575) Date: June 22, 2008 at 01:27:48

Beginning research on descendants of DAVID FELTMAN born 1842 who immigrated in 1844 from HANOVER to Richmond Indiana and was living there with that name spelling by 1850, when his older brothers BERNARD and HENRY all lived scattered into separate families. Family tradition holds that the name was von Forden Felter, but changed when father entered US Army. How to find immigration records without knowing spelling of original version of name from Prussia ?
