I have no record of a James Owens Ferebee, but I suspect he may be the son or grandson of Mitchell Simmons Ferebee, 7Apr1819 - 19Nov 1889, who married a Lucinda Harrison Owens, 21Nov1838 - 6Feb1910, in Currituck Co., N.C. on 19Mar1856. They had three known sons, James Beauregard (1864-1930 ),Mitchell jr. (1868 - 1934 ), and Willoughby Dozier (1873 - 19??). These men all had children who were born in a remote part of Currituck. James was eccentric and anti-social so little is known of him or his issue.
Mitchell was the son of Rev. Samuel Ferebee (1795 - 1879 ), a Methodist minister in Shawboro, N.C.,and Nancy Simmons ( 1799 - 1824 ) and the grandson of Samuel Ferebee ( 1761 - 1845 ).
