Linda,

Will you please look in your book and see if there is a Betsy Perkins listed, married to Joel Ailes/Ayles bef 1797 in Currituck. At least they were there then. And thee have been Ferebees/Ferbys in the family ever since then. In 1799:

Deed from Joel Ales & wife & Miles Perkins & wife to S. Ferebee a _______.
Deed from Joel Ayles & wife to James Ballentine Acknowledged.
and
1800 census:
NC, Currituck Co,
Joel Ales, 1 under 10, 1 10-15, -, 1 26-45 - //-, -, 1 10-16, - ,1 26-45 -, 1 slave

Betsy died by 1810, when Joel married again. We think the Ferebee had to have come through Betsy. Betsy was probably born bef 1774 (to be 26-45 in 1800.)

Thank you.
