Hello Kathy,
The wife of Capt. William A. Duke of Camden Co. NC was Elizabeth (b. ca. 1820 to 1830) the daughter of Peter Dauge Ferebee (b. 10 Feb. 1791, d. 20 Sep. 1829) and his wife, Mary Cartwright (b. 1793). Elizabeth had brothers; Edwin Ferebee MD (1819 - 1880) and Wilson B. Ferebee (1823 - 1901). The said Peter was the son and 8th child of Joseph Cooper Ferebee of Currituck (b. 31 May 1754, d. 20 Dec. 1820) and his wife (m. 10 Mar. 1774) Mary (11 Jun.1758 - 19 Mar. 1797) the daughter of James and Mary Dauge. All of these dates are from the Joseph C. Ferebee Bible transcribed in 1932 by Annie A. Ferebee of Norfolk VA. Peter D. Ferebee served in the 1st Currituck Reg. during the War of 1812. Peter was a first cousin to Dennis Dauge Ferebee. The said Joseph was the 4th child of William Ferebee of Currituck (1722 - 1783) and his wife Elizabeth (1728 - 1794) daughter of Isles Cooper. Joseph Ferebee served as a 1st Lt. in Jarvis' Co. 10th NC Continental troops of the line at Valley Forge, later a Captain NC Millitia. He was a member of NC General Assembly from Currituck in 1782- 1787 and 1790- 1791 and a NC state senator 1795- 1796.
If you have birth, marriage, and death dates for Elizabeth F. Duke I would appreciate the info.
Happy Hunting, Howard F. Hansen
