I was so hoping he came over with his parents, Mary and Joseph. I have a document that shows his birth place as Austria-Hungary. Would that have been in the geographical area in Hungary you refer to in your message? Did the manifest log say anything about his final destination in the U.S.? I have a 1920 Ohio census record that shows a Steve Ferencz as a boarder and was hoping that may have been him. However, it shows the year of immigration as 1914 and the year of birth caluclates 1 year younger. Was your friend able to save a copy of the ship log?

This website has been a God send for me. I cannot convey to you or the others who have shared info with me how grateful I am for every bit of info I have been able to gather. My Mother (Steve's daughter) would have been honored to have known more about her Father's past. I won't give up until I find his Hungarian roots.
