A picture and biography of James Fergus are included in "Progressive Men of the State of Montana". On 16 Mar 1845, James married Miss Pamelia Dillin, of Moline, IL. Pamelia died 6 Oct 1887. One son, Andrew. Three daughters: Mrs. R.S. Hamilton and Mrs. S.C. Gilpatrick, both of Helena, MT; Mrs. Frank H. Maury, of Washington County, OR.
