My FERGUS ancestors descend from Hugh FERGUS who I believe is a brother of John FERGUS of Chester Co. PENN. Information I have is that they probably did arrive through Baltimore about 1746/7 but by 1749 the two brothers were in frontier PENN. I have John listed as a warranter for a 177 acre farm in Chester, 12 DEC 1749 but there are state census listings for a John FERGUS in Brunswick Co. NC 1769 & 1772. DAR records indicate he was a guard at Camp Security and died after 1790. I have allot of information on Hugh Fergus down to my grandmother Fanny Fern (FERGUS) Irwin who was born 03 DEC 1896 and is still alive (103) rresiding in KS.
