Dave, the information from the web site
is only information that I found, and thought to post at the Fergus forum, because I had not seen it in any of the posts.
But, it is not my information and I cannot speak with any authority on it. If you do go to that site, you will see more information on that family. The information was sent in by a Neil Johnson, whose e-address at that site is firstname.lastname@example.org ... maybe he might be the same Neil Fergus Johnson, although a different e-address, at the Fergus forum, and might be the one to contact?
I only jumped into the Fergus forum, hoping to connect to my Gibson line. The Hugh Fergus whose (second) wife was Sarah Gibson had property #79 in the manor, and shared property lines with a William and a Robert Gibson (parcels 78A and 78B). South of this Hugh Fergus are two William Stewarts, one whose property is listed as "part in PA, part in MD". These properties are just north of Emmitsburg MD, where my Mary Stewart was born.
I understand your brick wall, and the confounding complication of similar given names (over and over...geesh!). Our family lore says our Gibson line also ended up in N. Ireland before coming here, and that our ancestor came here with some of his brothers. Our Samuel Allison Gibson is our brick wall.
If I do find any more on the Fergus family from this area, I promise to post it.
Good luck in your search. -Barbi
