Dear David,

There are a couple of Hutchinson families in Washingotn County, New York. There is a Charles Hutchans, of Salem, New York, Rev. War soldier. And there is an Alexander Hutchinson, immigrant from Ireland; came over to Argyle, Washington Co. in 1820s. Your ward could be from either of them or from another family.

Could you let me know if you like the looks of Alexander Hutchinson, as he is my family member. Thank you. Here is a list somewhat of the known children of Alexander; any one of the males could be the father of your Ward Hutchinson.
the children of Mary Harrison and Alexander Hutchinson. Sources used are census records for 1830, 1840, and 1850; and Alexander's naturalization record. There were at least eleven children. (1830 census.)
1. Hugh Hutchinson (born about 1801/1810 in Ireland). In 1839 he was a school trustee for Lick Springs, so in the area of Argyle still. (Susan Brennan). In 1840 he is probably in Wheatland, Monroe County, New York, living in a home of nine people. If he was the one in Brooklyn in 1870 born about 1825 Hugh married Elizabeth and they had Eliza, Mary, Grace, and John. That is too much of an age drop, IMHO.
2. a son born before 1810, try W.H. There is a W.H. [as well as a William] buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone.
3. another son born before 1810, try Alexander [named after father]. There is a second Alexander buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone.
4. daughter born before 1810, try Mary
5. George Hutchinson, born about 1812 of Argyle, then New York City. George married Elizabeth. They had Margaret Hutchinson Adams, George, David, Annie Hutchinson Hanna, Emily, Sarah, and William J. There is a George buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone.
6. Margaret Hutchinson, born about 1814. She may have married George Ferguson. Margaret and George were buried in lot VI 167at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle, nearby her proposed parents, Alexander and Mary Hutchinson.
7. William Hutchinson, born 1815 (Prospect Cemetery, d. 25 January 1883 68 years old so born about 1815) about 1816 (father's naturalization record) or 1822 (1850 census). There is a William buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone.
8. Rebecca Hutchinson, born about 1817 (father's naturalization record) or 1824 (1850 census). There is a Rebecca buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone.
9. Elisa Hutchinson or Elizabeth Hutchinson, born about 1820 (father's naturalization record) or 1826 (1850 census). There is an Elizabeth buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone. OR this could deb George's wife, Elizabeth.
10. Robert Hutchinson, born about 1822 (father's naturalization record; and cemetery record has 12 November 1822-13 November 1855). There is a Robert buried at Prospect Hill with Alexander Hutchinson. No dates on the stone.
11. Sarah Maria Hutchinson, born about 1825

Polly Lynn
