Dear George,

The LDS Church now has released the microfilms for christening, marriages and burials for Glencairn and the churches of Dumfries in the 1700's. It is unindexed and slow going at times when the recorder had poor hand writing. The opening pages of Glencairn is in ragged pieces dating about 1693 or 95. There are a number of Ferguson families in the area at that time and tracing the lines backwords is almost impossible if land was not involved. The other great indexed source is LDS Church of Scotland Records on microfilm. At times not the most accurate because volunteers indexed the film and it takes a while to gain a knack for the old hands went o's are really e's and Fergusons is spelled Ffergufson wh live at Caitloch, Isle, or Craigdarroch Houfes. Best of luck!
