I have been researching Elvena J. Fernald because of the given name and the fact that she was at the home of James Shapleigh Tobey in 1880. Son Martin Parry Tobey was at home that year but his sisters had married by then. I felt Elvena J. was there to assist Mary J. (Remick) Tobey and the fact that James A. Hanscom lived nearby may have been important. Elvena and James were married 12 Nov 1882 in Eliot (Old Eliot reprint bk 3 pg 96). Charles W. ROGERS and Mary Abigail (PAUL) had a daughter Abbie Elvena ROGERS who married Martin Parry TOBEY 1 May 1882. Mary J. TOBEY died in 1884. (The name Elvena was one of the names given to Martin's grandaughter). Elvena J. FERNALD'S mother's name was Octavia GREEN of NH or Olive BAKER of Kittery...I plan to look at her death certificate to see if it is given there. I have been collecting information on Elvena and James' children and would be glad to share.
