Hi Laura,

I found who I believe to be Sherburn's brother George, who married Mary Kneeland. He apparently moved to Albany, Oxford, ME. He lived by Kneelands. Jonni Sue has him in her database but has no parents listed for him. His age fits exactly where I suspected from the census. He was born between 1811-1813 and died 8 May 1864 from disease in the civil war, probably in Louisiana. He was a private in Maine's 29th Infantry Regiment, Company G.

Jonnie Sue lists some of his children but the census shows more.

1840 Enfield, Penobscot, ME George Fernald x1xx1 1xxx1

1850 Albany, Oxford, ME
George Fernald 37
Mary 36
Chelsey 17 male
Nancy 11
Oliver N 8
George 7
Juliette 3m

1860 Albany, Oxford, ME
G W Fernald 47
Mary 47
Oliver N 18
George W 14
Julia E 10
Hersey A 4

George died in 1864 and I can not locate the family in 1870. Their son Oliver is working in a sawmill in Raymond,Rockingham, NH.

1880 Albany, Oxford, ME
Mrs. Mary Fernald 66 spinal disease

Nellie 18

Charley H. Fernald 47 (Chelsey)

Alton L. 20
