I wrote to the Fernald mailing list on Rootsweb and I got the follwing response.
Hi Bob!
The Jonathan Fernald you say that was married to Martha “Patty” Randall I have information on that states he was the son of Abraham/Amos Fernald and the grandson of Abraham and Mary (Trickey) Fernald (which is my line). They had 10 children:
Lydia married a Stevens
Elmira
George married Mary Kneeland
Thomas married Lois Kneeland
Arthur Randall (M.D.) married Rebecca Marsh [Canaan, Somerset, ME area]
Sherburne
Syrena
Jonathan W., Jr., married Martha T. Files and had 10 children [Troy, Waldo, ME area]
Israel
Henry
Henry Nelson Fernald, son of George H. Fernald and Arvesta Jane Smith was married to Roxanna “Roxy” Thorndike Hall and I know of two of their children. They are also part of the Troy, Waldo, ME group. Henry Nelson’s father George H. is the son of a Henry N. Fernald and Mary Elizabeth Holt, they lived in Clinton, Kennebec, ME area. But so far have not connected him with enough definite proof.

It looks like I had most of Jonathans male children correct! But as I stated in an earlier posting there were some discrepancies concerning Jonathan.
I am trying to get more info on Abraham/Amos for you.
and confirm Debbie's data. But it appears she may be correct. If so, your line from Renald goes as follows:
1. Renald/Reginald Fernald and Joanna Warbarton
2. John Fernald and Mary Norman Spinney
3. Thomas Fernald and Mary Thompson
4. Abraham Fernald and Mary Trickey
5. Abraham/Amos Fernald
6. Jonathan Fernald and Martha Randall
7. Sherburne Furnald and Serina/Martha
8. Ira Furnald and Mary Catterson
