on a second look, it appears that the "D" I thought I saw in the 1900 census for Laconia, NH. is an "S," so Alice Augusta Fernald appears to have been single until she married True Thompson and does not appear to have had any children.
Jennie B. (Colbath) Fernald in 1900 Laconia, has 1 child living, but I believe that this refers to a son, Charles Orris Hopkinson, by her previous marriage (abt 1871) to James J. Hopkinson of Epping NH. (James died in 1875.) So it appears James Bell Fernald also had no children. They divorced by 1910. And he has no children with Ida Smith. James is a widower in the 1930 census of Laconia.
Thomas Chase Hill, b. 1878 son of Mary Fannie Fernald and Henry Hill is living with his Aunt Alice and grandmother Alice Fernald in True Thompson's household in Laconia, NH He m. 30 Sep 1908 in Laconia to Bertha Blanche Adams and does not appear to have had any children living, in the census of 1910, 1920 and 1930, Laconia.
So, it appears that Ransom's branch ends here.
