FERNALDS ISLAND

Greatings from Fernald's Island.
This Island now composes SEAVEY's ISLAND or THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
The cemetary for Thomas and Temperance Fernald still exist on the Island.
There is a marker stating that Thomas Fernald( shipwright) 1633-99 and his wife Temperance Washington of Virginia are both buried there along with the youngest daughter.
Thomas at the age of 12 in the year of 1645 was given the Island by Sir FERDINANDO GORGES for the sum of 2 shillings & 6 pence a year.

I'm not related directly to Fernald's that I know of but I am related to the Seavey's.

Jerry
