Good to hear from you.
That Mary Fernander age 70 on 1860 Fayette Co., Census [b. NC] sure sounds like the Mrs. Mary Palmer/Palmore who married Wm. P. Fernander around 30dec1845 Fayette Co. Since Wm. Fernander died in June 1849 [Coweta Co], their marriage was short lived. William had signed a pre-nupial agreement 30dec1845, Fayette Co., with wealthy widow, Mary Palmore. Fayette CO., Deed BK F; pg. 62.
There was the following info on William's Estate: 26nov1849 Coweta Co: Inventory of Wm P. Fernander's Estate Coweta Court of Ordinary. BK B pg 42-43. 6Apr 1850: Coweta Co., GA...sale of the Wm P. Fernander Estate. Coweta Court of Ordinary BK B. pg. 95.
As to William's WILL: 5 Sep 1849 Coweta Co.: Marshall Morton was appointed Administrator of Wm. P. Fernander's Estate. Recorded in the Administrator BK B; pg. 121.
[Marshall Morton was William's son in law and husband of Amanda Fernander, William's dau by Harriett Bowers.] [ I would love to see the content of William's Will.
All this is well and good as far as research on FERNANDER is concerned. My connection to FERNANDER exists as just a notation on a census.
Actually on several census'. Mary A Fernander is listed on Census records [Campbell & Fayette Cos., GA] from 1850 thru 1880 in the household of Williford Brown & his family. She is shown as 'sister' and unmarried. I suspect she was handicapped in one form or the other. Interestingly, if you can believe in the 'handicap' theory, there are two daughters of John J. Fernander [b. @1817]& wife, Lovinia who perhaps fall into the same
catagory. They were Nancy A.E. Fernander b. @ 1857 and her sister, Lucy L. Fernander b. @1863. Both of these girls/ladies appear in their brother Andy J. Fernander's household in the 1910 Census Douglas CO., GA. Both single.
Here we see Andrew J. Fernander taking the role Williford Brown accepted when he housed and cared for 'sister' Mary A. Fernander from as early as 1850 thru 1880. Now, my formost goal is to determine HOW Mary A. Fernander was related to my Williford Brown. Mary A. Fernander was b. 1814/1816 Bahamas. Williford Brown was b. 30 May 1811 GA. [no other siblings are known for Williford.] Now, Mary A. Fernander could NOT be a child of Mary Palmer Fernander. Mary & William were married 1845.
Perhaps if we knew who John J. Fernander's parents were, we could link them to BROWN? census says John J's father was born FRANCE. [odd]
My assumption that John J's [b. @1817] daughters [ Nancy & Lucy] were handicapped and that Mary A. Fernander, sister of Williford Brown, was similarily afflicted, leads to the idea that the two families were closely related. [Williford named a son John J. Brown]

Could John J. Fernander b. @1817 Ga; Mary A. Fernander b. 184-1816 Bahamas; and Williford Brown b. 1811 GA be siblings/half siblings??? That's the question for the day.
