San marcos? not too far- 4 or 5 hours from fort worth- love to go to schlitterbahn- must be the german in me lol. My Johannes Fernau was born in Herleshausen from records of the HETRINA showing birth in 1756/7 but his tombstone reads 1760. I have no proof as to the fernau/ferneau connection but family history says he was with cornwallis at the surrender at york town and was a pow- which is what hetrina said about this soldier- settling in bath va or berkeley springs wv now, which is in the same vicinity as frederick md where most of those pows were taken. how exciting to have gone to germany- id love to see pictures! you can email me direct if you wish and i will look up the birthdates on the other two fernaus. how diffcult is it to obtain church records from that area? does your freind still live in germany? would love to know about your fernau as well-were you born in texas? running late so i will cut this short for now--thanks julie
