My Ferranti ancestors came from Isola delle Femmine and Capaci, neighboring communes in Palermo Province, Sicily. Along with many other families from these two communes, they began immigrating to the US beginning about 1896. They originally settled in Pittsburg and Martinez, California. Later, many moved to Monterey, California. They were primarily fisherman.
