Lefever,Daniel of 1713 Update
Posted by: Morris C. LeFever (ID *****7277) Date: November 13, 2007 at 11:23:17
  of 1405

I have posted in the past results of my personal and paid research into Daniel and his descendants. I refer especially to those about his son Elias Lefever born 1743, and postings # 1144 and 1117.
Recently, a professional researcher found a document published by Paradise Township Citizens Committee Inc., Lancaster Co., PA LC 976 p321A titled "Paradise Our Heritage Our Home" Copyright 1997 by Robert C Denlinger. My copy says property of Lancaster Historical Society. Page 24 of Early European Settlers has Daniel LeFever of 1713 married circa 1736 married to Mary Catherine HERR.
The book The Pennsylvania LeFevres has him married to Mary Catherine KERR. A contact who has looked at the writing of scribes of that period said that the capitol letter H looks like K. A Ferre genealogy site that lists Daniel's descendants lists Daniel's daughter Mary as Mary Kerr Lefever.
Another problen is that one line of Daniel's decendants
(Daniel of 1713, son Elias of 1743, son Elias of 1770, son Peter of 1812) say family history has Daniel married to a Mary Catherine CATHEAU in 1739. A different descendant Judge Edgar Owen LeFever in his 1908 work lists just Mary Catheau. I have not found Catheau to be a valid surname, and believe Catheau is just an older spelling of Catherine.
These same descendants of Peter Lefevre of 1812 claim that Elias of 1743 was born 1745 and married a Bevier, whose family came from Ulster County, NY to Lancaster.
Bevier (Bouvier - perhaps Beaver in some old Lancaster records) was one of the early New Paltz, NY settlers. As we know some Dubois, Hasbrouck/various spellings, Ferree and others made the move early from Ulster to Lancaster, It could be true that my Elias Lefever of 1743 did marry as 1st wife a Bevier descendant and later a Mary Salome (maiden name unknown).
It could be that she was a maternal Bevier descendant, but might be of the DuBois or Ferre line - giving credance to the 1850's claim of a Daniel Lefever born 1773 (not in the PA LeFevre book) that he "decended from Louis Dubois, the Walloon".
Your help suggestions or comments would be welcome.
