Phil
I have not tested. I tried to get my brother to be tested but he didn't do it. He recently passed away.
My information comes from years of research and contact with many, many shirttail cousins LOL.
I have no doubt your name came from the original Fier.
there are so many corruptions of the name it is hard to determine. My ancestors are through the Free and Forbush line NC which is validated as the Ferree and Forbes lines in PA.
I posted several variations that I found in wills. If you are connected to Magdelena Ferree Buffington then your connection is validated. She was the daughter of Philip and Leah DuBois Fier/Ferree. I use the Fier (I don't have my files available now and it could be Feir, if so I will contact you) that is how Philip signed his will. I believe they had a son Philip and he may be the one confused with him. I will check and let you know.
I have validated my line from

DANIEL ? FERREE (died in England)
sp: MARIA WARENBAUR FERREE
FRANCE TO ENGLAND TO AMERICA

(1) Philip Fier/Ferree
sp: Leah DuBois

(2) Isaac Ferree/Free
sp: Elizabeth Forbes/Forbush

(3) Leah Ferree/Free
sp: William Sexton

(4) Archibald Sexton
sp: Sarah Davis

(5) Isaac Sexton
sp: Mary (Polly) Fowler

(6) Ezekiel Sexton
sp: Mary Nickelson

(7) Andrew Sexton
sp: Sarah Cramer

(8) Bessie Sexton
sp: Francis Marion Leonard
Hope this helps.
Dorothea
