Daniel Ferree (modern spelling) died in Steinweiler (present-day) Germany before 1708. Maria Warenbaur (She was French and therefore, always retained her maiden name regardless of how many times she might marry.) decided to take her issue to PA after Daniel died.

We have not done enough research in Europe to determine exactly when the Ferree family left France for the Rhine in Germany, but there is a document in the Speyer Archives which proves that they lived in Steinweiler in 1681. They did NOT flee from France in 1685 because of the Edit being revoked as so many of the books in print and oral traditional stories say.

Daniel and his family and Catherine and her family went together to England and then NY together in 1708. Maria and the other 4 issue went to England in 1709 and arrived in NY in 1710. They all moved to Chester Co. PA in 1712.

The Ferree family is going to celebrate the 300th anniversary this year in Lancaster in Sept.
