My brother did take the DNA basic test and the only match that can up with a Family name near ours, was yours, a David T. Ferree. We tested as HG (R1b1a2) and 83% Central European. Our Family Name is Free. From Family word of mouth passdown history, uncles, father, etc. have said we were French Hugunots from the Vogues Mt. area of France, and came on one of the Penn ships. They gave no date of arrival. I have been able to go back to my GGG Grandfater in He name was Jacob D. Free, born in 1831 in Penn. Married in Mich 1853, and wagon trained west in 1858. I have seen the Free name come up as off shoots for Ferree, but the oldest uncle in 1988, who is now dead, said the root name was Frey. I have found many Jacob Free's, but none born in PA in 1831. I have tracked every Jacob I could find, and there are many, but no links yet.
Maybe someone will know going back?
