Hi Tulio. Message #49 points to an interesting French origin. My late gdpa, Brazilian admiral Juvenal Greenhalgh Ferreira Lima, said the Ferreira Lima & Ferreira Fransa came from Bahia and the North-East. Please check out my message under name Lima #78. He used to mention a dead granduncle, a Ferreira Fransa, who was a witty professor in Bahia, and was married to a wild woman much younger than him. Any information about that branch of the family would be very interesting. My greatgrand dad was Dr. Philadelfio (or Dr. Fila) Ferreira Lima, a pediatrician in Sao Paulo in late 1800s, married to Matilde Greenhalgh. Do you think that Ferreira comes from Lisbon area or Madeira? Dan.
