Well, knowing your grandmother Isabel was born in Hayward pretty well tells me that your Maria Jardin is not too closely related to my husband's Jardin family. His Jardin family arrived in Hawaii in1883 and the daughter Maria/Mary was born in 1872 but she never married and the family didn't arrive in CA until 1905. It's interesting though because so much of the family is buried in Holy Seplecture and Evergeen Cemetery in Oakland/Hayward. Your Maria Jardin is probably related back in Madeira. Do you know where on the island they were from? Funchal? What parish? My husband's Jardin family was from Santo Antionio (parish), city of Funchal.
