Hello again, JJ,
Thank you for your kind words. One place to look for the death of Edward Riley FERREN would be at Johnson City city vital records for a copy of his death certificate. He died between 1920 and 1930 by the information for his wife, Minnie.
You can also contact www.nara.gov to see if there is more to his World War 1 information.
I believe his brother was William Milton FERREN. His age fits in correctly. I have tried to track William Milton to find out more about the FERREN family. This is what I have found:
