Thomas: I don't have any specific information for you, but I can help you with general information about Ferretts in Michigan. There are two families, apparently unrelated. The first are the descendents of Henry and Charity Ferrett, who came to Michigan in the 1860s. Most of them stayed in the St. Clair County area (Burchville, Jeddo, Port Huron), although they spread out to other Southeastern Michigan locations. This is the branch I belong to, and I don't believe you are related; in fact, I'm quite certain of it.
The other family descended from Robert and Fannie Ferrett, and started off in Goodland Tp., Lapeer County. They started having kids in 1890, and had a bunch of them. In 1910 & 1920 they are in Lynn Township, St. Clair County. They have sons George (b. 1894), John (b. 1903), William (b. 1904), Albert (b. 1909). Any one of them could have had a son that would be the right age.
There is currently a man with that name doing business as "The Counter...Fitter", 1609 E. M-36, Pinckney 48189, (Filed March 14, 2000), whose name is James Harwood Ferrett. That might be a place to start.
