My great grandfather was Rosario Dominic Fertitta and great grandmother Rosaria Provenza Fertitta. I am intrigued by the messages about Dominic and Salvatore (Sam) Fertitta because I believe my great grandfather had two brothers by those names who moved to Virginia. I see in your message, Tony, that you have identified the third brother as Vincent. There are a lot of similarities in Rosario's history and Vincent's history, but I am not sure if they are the same person.

Rosario and Rosaria were married in Cefalu, where they were from, in May 1901. They settled in Napoleonville, Louisiana, sometime before their first child (my grandfather) Cena Vincent was born in March 1902. I know you said the third brother stayed in New Orleans -- Napoleonville is probably an hour or so away. Rosario and Rosaria had 6 children: Cena Vincent (born March 1902), Rose (born 1905), Steven (born 1907), Grace (born 1911), Mabel (born 1913) and Sam (born 1915).

I have seen a census card from 1920 with this information on it -- the name Rosario appears as the head of the house. He was born to Vincenzo Fertitta and Rosaria Restiva Fertitta in 1866 in Cefalu. Rosaria, my great grandmother, was born to Stefano Provenza and Jonatora Cerami Provenza in 1876 in Cefalu.

There are many similarities, as I said, even down to some of the children's names that you listed in your message. You mentioned that your Aunt Sara may know about some of the names. Could you check with her to see if any of this sounds like it my great grandfather could possibly be the third brother? My father tells me he remembers his father (Cena) talking about an Uncle Dominic in Virginia. I would like to know if your grandfather could possibly be him.

I am in Louisiana and could give you some information on the Louisiana cousins if we could figure this out.

Thanks, Allyson
