Long time away from the forum...........All I have of Phoebe "Peevey" Fesler is what has been posted, hashed, and rehashed. It's interesting how a bit of information gets started and no one knows where it came from. I had contacted 3 of the veteran genealogists in Stokes County to see where they got the info and they all could not recall and their records, by this time, were stored in the attic or basement (their research b.c....before computer) What I have found is Barbara Kiser whose 1835 will
has bequest for her son, John Harmon - this being the son of John Kiser and the illusive Phoebe. Robert Carroll, who once had a newspaper genealogy column in Stokes County had speculated that Phoebe "anglicized" her name to Barbara. "Barbria" as her tombstone reads is buried in a Kiser family graveyard with tombstone "JK" by her, as well as a son, stone engraved "Federick"......Phoebe is still a mystery..........
