Hi Vickie,
My name is Sherian(Sher)Duncan Groce. My son actually found your post on the Fettermans by typing in Phils name and it just popped up. Phil was my step father. He married my mother in 1965 I think. I'll have to look at the wedding pictures. He was in the military but my mother wasn't. There is a place for the veteran's spouse to be buried with them at Willamette Cemetery.
Phillip Meredith Fetterman (Meredith isn't spelled right)
was from TN and visited his brother a few years before he died. I first met him when he and another gentleman went into partnership with my mother in an arts and craft shop in Sellwood,Oregon. They bought out the other partner and then it was just mother and phil. The shop was ceramics, enamel jewelry and hand woven materials.
Phil was always an artistic person. He left the East Coast to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. He was in many plays and he had a radio show featuring a character named "Quacky Doodle". He made several marionettes that became characters for his radio show. He could recite any line from a Shakespeare play without stumbling.
I knew about his mother passing away at his birth. He was never a mentally well person when it came to relationships because of this trauma.
He was a Christian Scientist to the very end. He passed away because his appendix burst and eventually killed him.
I have kept a bunch of papers of his and if you know of someone in the family who would want them, I will send them as soon as I can afford it. There at least two albums and they are not light!
If you want more info..... let me know.
