Lauren, do you know where in Germany your Ficks came from? My husband's gggrandfather, Lorenz Fick, came from Oppau to Meigs County Ohio in 1838. He did not have any other family with him and we have not been able to find his parents or any siblings with any certainty. His name may have been Philip Lorenz or Lorenz Philip so there is a similarity to names that you mentioned.
