Hi Kevin,
I am Paula Wiegmink nee Fick and I now live in Australia but I was born in Zimbabwe and I immigrated to Australia in 1994. I am a direct descendant of the General JIJ Fick whom the town of Ficksburg was named after. I have just returned from visiting Ficksburg to do research on my family history for a book I am writing about my family. My father Paul Hendrik Fick named after the generals first born son (commandant in the war) has just recently passed away at the age of 93. My mother is still alive and they were married for 67 years. Incidently I have a cousin also named Kevin Fick!I have managed to trace my family history back to 1709 from the first Fick to arrive in Cape Town South Africa and his name is Anthonie Fick from Paderborn in Germany. I have not had any success as yet tracing the family in Germany but have my direct tree right up to present day. I was very interested to see how many Ficks there are in America and I look forward to making contact with you and any other Ficks that wish to say hello.
Kindest regards
