Hi Paula~
I'm not from South Africa, I am from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I saw your post when I was looking up "Ficksburg". I was born and raised here, along with my father Russell Fick. I have a 16 year old son, Kevin Noonan-Fick. (Noonan, after his Irish mother and my wife Patty). I was under the impression that Fick was a Bavarian name, but I've also learned it could be Dutch. This would make sense considering the Dutch influence in South Africa. I suppose I could be related to you and General John Fick somewhere down the line. Always interesting looking up the "Fick" tree! Anyway, I just thought I would drop you a line.
Have a great day!
Steve...
