Good morning Peri,

Yes, I'm still here and what a SURPRISE!! I truly didn't believe there would be a chance in someone responding.

I remember Aunt Sadie. She lived next door to my grandmother when I was a little girl. I lived 7 houses down the street from Aunt Sadie and my grandmother (Iva).

It saddened me to read that Aunt Ruth passed on and I never even knew it. I just loved visiting them when I was a little girl. I LOVED her "rum balls" she always made at Christmas time. Is Uncle Otto still alive? Do you know their children and/or their whereabouts?

My grandmother had a Family Holy Bible which she was gonig to send to auction years ago prior to her passing on, but I talked her in to giving it to me. Thank goodness!! She burned so many OLD pictures, but I was able to sneak a few and save them from the burn barrell. Why did the people from back then want to rid themselves of pictures?! There are only a few pictures in the Family Bible, and the one's who are in it, I have no idea who they are.

The only Bruaw relatives I remember as a little girl are/were: Uncle Earl, Uncle Chet, Aunt Ruth, Aunt Sadie, Aunt Hilda (she lived in Philadelphia), Uncle Grafton (he was married to Aunt Margret). I had some Bruaw relatives in the Mt. Wolf area, but I can't remember their names. They had two daughters, one of them named Lin and she played/taught piano. For the longest time we went to their house to take piano lessons and later on I realized that they were our relatives. No wonder my I was always able to do what I wanted when we were visiting. I sure wish I had known we were related at the time Lin was teaching me piano.

I have a brother, Jeffrey Donn Fickes, and a sister, Sherree Lynn (Fickes) Divel. Jeff is living in Florida with a wife and 3 gorgeous little girls. Sherree lives in Harrisburg and has a son, Tony, who goes to Bloomsburg University. This is his first year. I have a daughter, Cari Leigh Davis, who will be 14 on August 28th and is going into 9th grade. I used to own my grandmother's house from 1992-2001, but sold it and moved to Hamburg, PA. I live across I-78 from the infamous Cabela's. I travel 50 miles to work (one-way) in Harrisburg. I work for the State Police, Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement Legal Office. Next April, I will have 25 years with the State. I started out of high school. I am 43 years old.

Ask your Aunt if she remembers Alethea Barbara (Rode) Fickes. She was my mom. My father passed away on February 24, 1992 from cancers at age 60 and my mother then passed away in June 23, 1995 also from cancer at the age of 59. Sometimes I wonder if it was from living so close to Three Mile Island. So many have passed away and still are doing so from illnesses.

It's so hard to believe that my parents are gone and practically all the relatives on my dad's side that I knew about. Even though I have a wonderful guy in my life and a beautiful well-mannered daughter, I still feel alone sometimes with my parents/elders being gone.

Well, I am at work right now, so I must break away to do what I'm PAID to do (hehe), but I am soooo happy to receive your response and I do hope I hear from you soon. I would love to see any pictures that you may have. I'll dig out some pictures and scan them into the computer and share with you also.

Have a great day Peri! And I look forward to hearing from you.

P.S. I emailed this response to you prior to placing it on this Geneology website. I can also be reached at if my hotmail happens to go on the blink. :)
