Thanks for your speedy response. The Freeman book on Adam and Susan Fickes family tells that Johann Adam Fickes changed the spelling to Fickas. That info is also on this message board in one of the responses to a previous query. The graves I've seen mentioned in IN and KY lists spell it Fickas also. I imagine we all have some ne'er-do-wells in our families. So far I haven't found anything very jarring in any of the 10 or more lines I'm searching. You've inspired me to read up on the Whiskey Rebellion.
