The story I was told by my father Charles R. Fickes was at one time there were 7 brothers in Germany with the name Von Amerbach. Two fled to Alsace Lorraine and changed their name to Fiques. This became Fickes after arriving in America. When all of this transpired, I am unsure at this time.
