4. HENRY7 FIFIELD (WILLIAM6, DANIEL5, STEPHEN4, HENRY3, WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born 16 Oct 1835 in New York. He married PAMELA HUNTER 20 Feb 1868.

Notes for HENRY FIFIELD:
He began military service on 9 Aug 1862 in Plattsburgh, Clinton, N.Y ("Pension record", Henry Fifield pension record.); 188 Regiment N.Y., Company B. Height 5 feet 10 inches, light complexion, blue eyes, auburn hair. About May 16 1864 at or near Drury's Bluff, VA was shot in the head, stunned and knocked senseless. Fell back to the rear, came across Dr. Wilson who washed and dressed wound. Went back to the line of battle, was caused to retreat, then wounded in the leg. Wound in the head impaired his hearing, has since had a roaring and disagreeable sound in the head and finds it impossible to understand a common conversation on 16 May 1864. Achilles tendon was destroyed and the wound became gangrenous. Henry was awarded a pension from the date of his release from the hospital on 28 Apr 1865 in Military Hospital, Troy, Rensselaer, N.Y. He was ill with Henry's leg was amputated at the knee, and he was unable to be fitted with a false leg; the continuing ulcer from his wound had become carcinomalous on 19 Jul 1910 in Mary Fletcher Hospital, Burlington, Chittenden, Vt.
