Mary Fifield married to Etienne Richer

I am trying to find the origins of my ggg grandmother
Mary/Marion Fifield, b. about 1799. I believe she was of English origins and was about 44 yrs old when she married French-Canadian born Etienne Richer in Clinton Co., NY. I found the 1843 French-Catholic record that shows that she
was baptised Catholic on the same day she married widower Etienne Richer. They had one child together, my gg grandmother Louise Modeste in 1844.
I have one possible clue: Etienne's brother-in-law Felix LaPlante lived next door to a Daniel Fifield according to an 1840 census- and Felix appears as a witness to both Marion Fifield's baptism and marriage. I believe Mary was related somehow to Daniel Fifield, maybe a sister?
French records would list the bride's maiden name, so I think she was born a Fifield as opposed to being the widow of one. Daniel may have had a brother William nearby- all in Clinton Co (possibly Plattsburgh), NY. If anyone may has info on this branch of the family and where my Mary could have come from, it would be very appreciated.
