I too was told that I am a descendant of the famous pugilist. My Figg family lived in London during the 1800's and I can't trace them back further than 1840. I have Discovered that James Figg had at least one child born the week after he died in Dec 1734. Do you have any other information. How exactly are you related? What is the lineage. I know there were two seperate Figg family in the southern area of the US that arrived in the mid to late 1700's and I strongly suspect that one is not related to James Figg.
