Mike - stumbled across your message to Gary Hudgins and printed it out for my mother, Frances Sterling, in Gloucester, VA to read. She is doing a lot of genealogy these days. I am Frances Ann Sterling Minor and live in Mathews. She wanted me to write this reply to you:
In reply to your Figg and Blakes of Gloucester, Co. to Gary Hudgins, you wanted more information on Cornelia Ellen Figg. That was her birth name, but was called "Ella" all her life. She was the 8th child born on Nov. 13, 1890 to John Henry Figg and Christina Ann Long Blake. She married Samuel Jackson German and they had Daisy, Doris, Grace and Elton (4th child). Cornelia Ellen was my mother's sister. My mother was 9th child Dosia "Dora" Ernest Figg. My sister says it is a possibility that Abbitt was the name of a doctor that helped her very much when Grace died at the age of six. It is not a family name.
Look forward to hearing about you and your family.
Sincerely,
Frances Sterling
