I am re-posting the same message below as I needed to re-register with Genealogy.com. My apologies for the duplication: I am searching for anyone connected with or has information about the following surnames: FIGLAR, PLAVNICKY, HAVANICH. I believe my grandfather, Paul Figlar, came to the US on September 6, 1923, on the The Lancastria and settled in Bridgeport, CT. He was 33 at the time and came alone. A few years later he sent for my grandmother, Anna Plavnicky, and 2 children - Paul and Steve. (My grandparents had 2 additional children once in the states - Marge and my father, John.) I am fairly certain they were from the village of Plavec in the Presov region in Slovakia. My grandmother was 1 of 4 girls and 4 boys but my family members believe that none of her siblings came over to the US. So, the Plavnickys that I come across back east may not be related to us. My grandfather we think had 3 other brothers - Andrew, Stephen, and Joseph. I am not sure what happened to them. When my grandfather arrived he came to stay with Stephen Havanich (brother?) in Bridgeport, CT (on Ellen Street?). Thank you in advance for any assistance anyone can provide. Best of luck in your search. Notify Administrator about this message?
