The family of Henry Oliver File moved from NC to TN (I was told it was along the Tennessee River) after his 2nd marriage. When the crops to feed the cattle were destroyed by lightning and a subsequent fire, the sons built rafts/barges and carried the cattle to New Orleans to be sold. It is said that on the way back to TN they heard/thought about the availability of good land in IL, held a family council and made the move to Bond Co. IL. It is reported that the move to IL took place 1816-17. Since Bond Co. IL was formed in 1818 when IL became a state, the family would have been in Madison Co., IL Terr. 1816-17.
