Sue, thanks so much for the information - it is indeed a small world - I wondered whether you were the same person on the tree that Ann Hudson has produced but wasn't sure.
I would be happy to send a copy of Ann's family tree which shows how we are connected through to 1716 and all the branches she has managed to put together - it would have to go by snail mail in the format it is in at the moment.
By the way, I'm only a File by marriage - and was interested at an early age in family history and because File was such an unusual surname I decided to research and asked my in laws about the family. I joined Kent Family History Society and have been in contact with quite a few other researchers and the rest is history so they say.
We live in Essex and have been to visit the Kent areas where the ancestors lived quite a few times. The countryside is lovely and unspoilt (mostly). Look forward to hearing from you again. Babs.
