Rev. Thomas H. Files
Posted by: Mark Hampton (ID *****9055) Date: January 20, 2007 at 21:58:15

Does anyone have any information on Rev. Thomas Files? It appears he was a pioneer preacher who traveled between White, Wayne, Hamilton and Jefferson Counties, Illinois.

In one of the genealogies my g grandfather put together, he mentioned that his grandmother (name unknown, but she married a Martin) had two sisters -- Rachel Ellen, who married Marcus R. Day, and another sister (not named, but probably Sarah W) who married John Jessup. He also mentions that John Jessup's son, Albert, accidentally killed J. T. Hampton, my g grandfather's brother, in 1871.

From the tombstone inscriptions in the Day Cemetery (http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/cem/day/index.html) it would appear that my g grandfather's g grandfather was Rev. Thomas Files.
