I have many Fildes ancestor's who resided in Wayne County, IL. By 1880, Joseph Rice Fildes was living in Wayne County. His wife was Mary A. Hoffee. They had a child, James Edward Fildes. J.R. Fildes, father was Edward Fildes, Sr. and his mother was Rebecca C. Turner. I don't know if any of these names will help to connect with your family tree. We pronouce our last name, Files.
