Hi Larry,
I don't know if I can be of any help but I am a descendant of William "The Old Ranger" Files of Cape Cod, MA and Gorham, ME. His grandson, Nathaniel S. Files, son of William Files, Jr. was a farmer who moved to Ohio at some point. He was born July 12, 1796 and served in the War of 1812 in Capt. Bettis's Company. I don't know if there is a connection but maybe you can research further. Good luck! Who knows, we may find out we are related.
Lorraine Files Sears
