My wifes grandparents came to America in the late 19th century and settled in Belmont County,Ohio and in Adena, Jefferson County, Ohio. Their name was Nicolai and Katerina FILIPOWITZ,but pronounced FILIPOVICH. They changed their name to PHILLIPS in the early 20th century. Their is some indication that his parents and siblings had located in Pennsylvania. His fathers name was Michael FILIPOWITZ. Nicks nephew and neice were Rudolph and Evelyn PHILLIPS
