BOSSIER CITY, LA- A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Grady R. Fincher at Bellaire Baptist Church on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 2:00 PM. The family will be receiving friends at Bellaire Baptist Church on Thursday from 12:00 PM till time of service. Rev. Jeff Harper and Rev.Jeff Joyner will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park with full military honors.
Grady was born August 26, 1934 in Covington, Georgia to Ras and Annie Fincher. He was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base and retired after 20 years of service (1972). He had also been stationed overseas in Phillipines, Guam and Puerto Rico. After retiring from the Air Force, he continued to work at the VA Medical Center until 1999. Grady enjoyed golfing with his friends. He was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church, where he was also an usher.
Grady was preceded in death by his four brothers: James, Douglas, Charles, and Walker .
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty V. Fincher; daughter, Susan Jacks and husband David of Haughton, LA, son, Grady Fincher, Jr. "Butch" of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Allums, Kristi Brazzel of Bossier City, LA, Brandon and
Brett Fincher of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Grayson Allums of Benton, LA; sisters, Joyce Cook and husband Marcus, Joyce Fincher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the US Air Force Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be: Paul Horton, Hank Durivage, Bill Carter, Lew Autry, Bob Gallagher, Floyd Picht, John Starne, Chuck Dudra, Chuck Shoul, John Walker, Dick Reed, Henry Bickley and Fred Christner.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and staff of Highland Hospital, 2nd floor, of the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home, Dubuis Hospital and to all their friends at Bellaire Baptist Church.
