Hi, Dana,
In the LSD files, I've seen names in Germany spelled something like "Pfeindt", but I don't know if there's any connection to our Finds. In the 1850 Austin Co., TX census, the family appears as "Fint"; after that as "Find".On Frederich Ernst and Sophie Pfeffer Find's grave marker, the name is spelled Find (the writing is in German). The earliest record on our family that I have is a transcription of the application papers to the Vereins zum Schutze deutscher Einwanderer in Texas made 20 January 1846 from Wetzlar by Jacob Kinkler. In this, Daniel's name appears as Find throughout.(You might have noticed the name Kinkler on the Frelsburg church records that you sited.) We are blessed to have a name that isn't any more difficult than it is!I'm sorry that I don't read German.Do you?
Kathy
